
Ellen Isabel “Izzy” Geheeb, aged 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. She was a long-time resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was born April 23, 1920, the first daughter of Albert John and Cleo Belou Geheeb. She is survived by two sisters, Cleo Geheeb Elliot, and Julia Hyacinthe “Hycie” Geheeb. She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews, Joseph “Jeff” Elliot III (DeeVern), Albert “Al” Elliot (Marie), Jorda Elliot (Sue), Ellen Elliot Lulich (Johnny), Thomas “Tom” Elliot (Heidi), Theodore “Ted” Elliot (Kelly), Patricia “Pat” Crum, Harvey “Drew” Peltier III (Linda), and Mary Ellen Peltier. She is also survived by numerous loving great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also devoted Godmother of Helen Mary Belou Noto.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irma “Mickey” Geheeb Peltier (Harvey Peltier, Jr.); brother-in-law, Joseph “Joe” Elliot; and nephew, John Crum.
She is a graduate of Holy Angels Academy, where she was Valedictorian of her class, and is also a graduate of Ursuline College. Izzy retired after 51 years as a dedicated employee of Jones Walker Law Firm, and then Canal Barge Company.
Izzy enjoyed spending time with her sister, Hycie, for 10 happy years at their summer home in Pass Christian, Mississippi. She was a devout Catholic, and a generous contributor to various Catholic charities in the New Orleans area. She was a very gracious lady with a kind heart especially when it came to her family. Izzy was an avid football fan, especially for her beloved New Orleans Saints and Tulane Green Wave. She was also a supporter of Tulane University. Izzy loved Mardi Gras, family celebrations, and spending time with her sister, Hycie. She will be dearly missed, and forever kept in our hearts and prayers. “CHEERS”
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 3:00PM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:30PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ellen Geheeb’s name to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, 2635 State St., New Orleans, LA 70118.
