

Elodie Marie LaBruyere Duffy passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at the age of 101 in Baton Rouge, LA. A resident of Metairie, LA, since 1937, she had been living for the past two years at a retirement home in Baton Rouge. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael James "Jim" Duffy. She is survived by her son, Michael J. Duffy Jr. and his wife, Rebecca D'Neil Duffy of Mt. Jackson, VA, her son Paul B. Duffy of Baton Rouge, and was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Martha Ann Giddens of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michael Giddens of Boerne, TX, John Giddens of Jackson, MS, Brian Giddens of Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth Giddens of Brooklyn, NY, Mignon Duffy of Waltham, MA, Brett Duffy of Decatur, GA, Karen Gelhaar of Lawrenceville, GA, Ken Duffy of Baton Rouge, and Kevin Duffy of Baton Rouge, and 16 great-grandchildren. Born in New Orleans May 11, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Phillip LaBruyere and Martha Tircuit LaBruyere and had six brothers and sisters, Bertram LaBruyere, Phillip LaBruyere Jr., Gerard LaBruyere, Renee "Dutch" LaBruyere, Lola Folse and Bernard LaBruyere, all of whom preceded her in death. She was a co-founder of Printers Supply Mart, a business she and her husband ran for 35 years; past president of the Altrusas, and member of the Sultanas and the Altar Society at St. Catherine of Siena. She was a charter ticket-holder of the New Orleans Saints and the long-time matriarch of her extensive family. Special thanks are due to the staff at Whealdon Estates, Sincerity Services and Sunrise Senior Living in Metairie for her care in recent years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, followed immediately by a funeral Mass at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the Garden of Memories at 4800 Airline Drive, in Metairie, LA.
