

She was a devoted homemaker and mother and later became a legal secretary.
Emilie was a very talented seamstress. Emilie’s hobbies also included crocheting and crafting. She made nearly all of her daughter’s clothes throughout childhood, college, and graduate school and made her daughter’s wedding dress. She was a member of the Tennis Club at Sunrise Community Club and a member of the Willowdale Homemakers Association for many years.
Emilie was preceded in death by her husband, James Ross Schneider, whom she married in 1956. They were married for 32 years until his passing in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, James L. Tuma and Emilie Frances Tuma, brother Thomas Norman Tuma, nephew Tommy O’Brien, and daughter-in-law Desiree Morvant Schneider.
Survivors include daughter, Karen Elaine Schneider Ingersoll; son, Christopher James Schneider; sister, Vera Tuma O’Brien; grandchildren, James Donald Ingersoll, Erica Estelle Schneider, Tristan Walker Ingersoll, and James Christopher Schneider, nieces Colleen O’Brien and Melanie Harris, and stepson Martin Ragusky.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Inurnment will be in All Saints Mausoleum within Metairie Cemetery.
