

Esther was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, John J. Landry, Jr.; her son, Todd Landry; her seven siblings, Hilda Kraemer (Erole), Florence Rogers (Milton), John Leonard, Alvin Leonard (Dorothy), Infant Ulamay Leonard, Mildred Buquét (Paul), and Henry Leonard (Rita); and her parents, John and Flossie Blanchard Leonard.
Esther is survived by her three children, Pam Mendoza (Christopher, Sr.), Darlene Laurent (Michel, Sr.), and Chad Landry (Deborah); her eight grandchildren, January Landry, Maryann Meyers (Joe), Christopher Mendoza, Jr. (Melissa), Wade Mendoza (Kayla), Nicholas Matthews, Michel Laurent, Jr., Tara Landry, and Arissa Landry; and her eight great grandchildren, Nevaeh Lacourse, Warren Meyers, Conner Mendoza, Avery Mendoza, Stella Mendoza, Bryleigh Mendoza, Beaux Mendoza, and Bentley Matthews. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 8, 1936. She graduated from Redemptorist High School, and was a proud member of the Redemptorist High School Class of 1955 Reunion Committee.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Bowers Hospice of Southern West Virginia for the care and compassion they gave to Esther and her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 12:00PM. The visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass in Metairie Cemetery.
