

Born on November 28, 1932, Penny dedicated her life to caring for others. She graduated from the Mathers School of Nursing in 1953, beginning a remarkable career in healthcare that would span half a century. Penny retired from Southern Baptist Hospital of New Orleans as head ER nurse after 50 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, skill, and tireless dedication to her patients and colleagues.
In 1967, Penny married the love of her life, Don Villavaso. Together, they raised their daughter, Doni, whom they cherished deeply. Family was always at the center of Penny’s world, and she carried that love and devotion throughout her life.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Dewey Pentecost and Eva Miller Pentecost. Her beloved husband, Donald Phillip Villavaso, and their daughter, Doni Evetta Villavaso. Also, her best friend of many years, Beverly Leak.
Though her later years brought loss, Penny found comfort and joy in the loving home of Christine and Mike Spalt, where she lived her final years surrounded by love, care, and companionship.
Penny will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle spirit, and the way she touched every life she encountered. Her legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial gathering will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 9:00am until 12:00pm.
