

Eugene E. (“Gene”) Cobb passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, after a brief illness. He was a native New Orleanian born on Easter Sunday, 1928 and a resident of Harahan, LA for the past 61 years.
Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Montz Cobb, and his children Roger E. Cobb (Patricia), Judith C. Valenza (John, Jr.), David C. Cobb (Robin), Susan C. Cohagan (Randy), Jean C. Hill (Michael) and Chris P. Cobb (Patricia), as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his very close friends Oscar B. “Dale” Goff, Jr., Leo Jackson and the Hon. Kevin Centanni.
Preceded in death by his parents, Prentiss L. Cobb and Louise Speeg Cobb, siblings Georgie C. Ruano (Parsons) and Prentiss E. Cobb (Patricia), and son Marc G. Cobb (Cherie).
After graduation from Warren Easton High School, he attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge prior to enlisting in the United States Army, a veteran of World War II. Following service in the Army, he was employed at the California Oil Company (later Chevron Corporation) for 33 years as a geophysicist and geologist, during which time he graduated from Tulane University. He served as a consultant for several oil and gas companies after retirement from Chevron, during which time followed a passion for designing residential homes for several prominent New Orleans home builders, prior to obtaining a general contractor license and operating his own construction company, Cobb Enterprises and Associates, Inc. He was a proud member of the Southeastern Geophysical Society (SGS), New Orleans Geological Society (NOGS), Chevron Retiree’s Association, the Jolly Jeffs and TABS organizations.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
