

Eugenie Loie Wilson Alsobrook passed away on August 29, 2024 at 90 years of age, and she was born on July 17, 1934 in New Orleans, LA. Known by her nickname “Mimi”, she graduated from Louise S. McGhee School in 1952 and earned her degree from Newcomb College/Tulane University in 1956. After graduating college, Mimi taught elementary school and then took on the role of homemaker. She enjoyed reading, traveling internationally, cooking, cheering on the Saints, Tulane, and LSU, and needlepoint. Most importantly, she cared deeply for her family; she loved raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, niece and nephews, other family members, and her friends.
She is preceded in death by her son, Henry Bernis Alsobrook, III and her parents, Gordon “Doc” F. Wilson, Sr. and Alice “Tippy” Pool Wilson.
Mimi is survived by her daughters, Eugenie Alsobrook Burglass (Harry) and Emily Alsobrook Kayton (Brad); son, John Gleason Alsobrook (Cheri); brother, Gordon Francis “Tad” Wilson, Jr. (Peg); grandchildren, Patrick Woodward Burglass (Laine), Stephen Pool Burglass, Henry Bernis Alsobrook, II, William Robert Alsobrook, Carolyn Camille Alsobrook, Eugenie Paige Alsobrook, Geoffrey Leonidas Kayton, and Brady Alexander Kayton. She is also survived by her nephews, William “Bill” Miller, Gordon Peter Wilson, Peter Wilson, and Carter Wilson; niece, Alice “Bonnie” Wilson; and her grand-nephews and grand-nieces, whom she loved.
The family would like to give special thanks to the residents and staff at Lake Sherwood Village, Audubon Healthcare- especially Carrie Davis and Jennifer Pearson, Hospice of Baton Rouge, Pat Johnson and Nicole White.
Relatives and friends are invited to the services on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 12:00 p.m., which will be conducted by Associate Pastor Scott Graham of First Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Following the service, there will be a repast at the funeral home. The interment at Greenwood Cemetery will be private for the family.
