Eve Ruth Godchaux Hirsch, age 91, died at her home after an extended illness on December 17, 2018 at 8:35PM. She was a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans who graduated from Isidore Newman School and from Sweet Briar College. At one time in her earlier years, she was associated in the register’s office of Isidore Newman School and later as Assistant to the Dean at Newcomb College, a division of Tulane University. She was an active volunteer and for 20 years assisted with the archives of Touro Infirmary. She also volunteered with the National Council of Jewish Women and had served on the Board of Visitors at Trinity Episcopal School as well as serving on the State Advisory Committee of the New Orleans Museum of Art. She is the daughter of the late Hilda Aaron Godchaux and Mayer Godchaux and wife of the late Simon Herbert Hirsch. She had one deceased son Richard Godchaux Hirsch. Thanks to Colette Newman, Pamela and Jack Lyles, Jr., and Cathy Kahn for their love and friendship; to Carroll Suggs for wonderful trips together; to Stephen Romig, John Rouchell and Billy Frieberg for their support and care; Ellen Odkins and James Hudson for their loving care throughout the years; and to caregivers Clara, Edna, Kim and Donna. A memorial service will take place in the Feibelman Chapel of Temple Sinai, 6227 St. Charles Avenue on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2pm with Rabbi Edward Paul Cohn officiating.
