Evelyn Gangi Cancella

Evelyn Gangi Cancella, 91 passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at her home in Metairie. Born in New Orleans October 22, 1934, to Herman & Hazel (Delon) Wilbur. She shared 32 years with her husband Vincent Gangi, Jr & after his passing she was blessed with 13 years with the late Angelo Cancella. Devoted mother to Vincent Gangi, III, Larry Gangi, Cecilia Ulfers (Keith) and Michael Gangi (Lisa). Grandchildren, Tabitha Quirk (Jimmy), Eric Gangi (Triana), Larry Gangi, Jr (Bryce), Michael Gangi, Jr. (Jennifer), Nicole Gangi (Donald), Chad Gangi (Indira), Ashley Ulfers (Nick), Jesse Quirk, Anthony Gangi (Eugenia) and Logan Gangi. Great Grandchildren, Victoria & Vincenzo Quirk, Erik, Savannah & Harmony Gangi, Kayla, Ava & Cameron Gangi, Gabby & Donald Fabacher, Elizabeth Lubrano, Dominick Travis, Kennedy & Kevin Quirk, Fiona & Luca Gangi and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Hazel (Delon) and Herman Wilbur of New Orleans and her sons Vincent Gangi, III and Larry Gangi. Evelyn was loved by many and had a zest for life. She loved spending time with friends and family and had a love for dance. She had a green thumb and loved to work in her yard. In her 91 years she worked as a short order cook in her early years, worked at a box factory, was a licensed Real Estate Agent, a licensed Cosmetologist and retired from DH Holmes/Dillards, after retirement she worked demos at Winn Dixie.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 9am – 11am with Mass beginning at 11am at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
