A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was born in Newburg, Oregon on March 14, 1937 to Edith McNamara and George “Art” Komma. She and her younger brother, Richard Charles Komma, were raised by their mother. At the age of 15, she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended and graduated Loyola University New Orleans, where she received a Bachelor of Journalism degree, with a minor in English. She was one of the first two female editors for the Loyola publication, The Maroon. At Loyola she met her future husband, John Anthony Stampley, III. After they graduated from Loyola, they married on October 1, 1960 and had 3 children. They were married 32 years until his death. She went on to receive her Masters in Journalism from LSU. Her professional life included Director of Public Relations and Communication at the University of New Orleans and later worked and retired from Louisiana State Board of Regents in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, mother and brother.
She is survived by her children, John Anthony Stampley, IV and wife Therese of Studio City, CA; Lawrence Richard Stampley and wife Maria of Covington, LA; Bridget Stampley Akin and husband Richard of Baton Rouge, LA. She was adored by her grandchildren, Sarah, Julia and Rich of Baton Rouge, LA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Saint Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Avenue New Orleans, Louisiana with Mass at 12:00 p.m., followed by interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
