Evelyn S. Treuting

Evelyn Treuting, age 86, was called by our heavenly Father on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at Inspired Living where she was residing. Beloved mother of Barbara Treuting Casteix, Robert L. Treuting, Jr. (Dawn) and Carolyn Treuting Ameen (Ed), grandmother of Robert L Treuting, III (Kortney), Ryan M. Casteix (Bre), Patrick J. Treuting and Mark M. Casteix, and great-grandmother of four beautiful great- grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Raymond T. Schnadelbach (Maxine) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Treuting; her parents, Azelie Becnel and Thomas W. Schnadelbach; a brother, Thomas W. Schnadelbach, Jr. and a son-in-law, Michael J. Casteix..

Evelyn was a kind, generous and independent woman whose strong Catholic faith, intense love of family and spirit of adventure allowed her to lead a full life as a Eucharistic minister, a CCD teacher, member of the Companions of Pauline, associates of the Sisters of Christian Charity, and a devoted mother and grandmother who was never too busy for her family. She always had a smile for everyone she encountered and a story to tell.

Evelyn attended Holy Angels Academy and received a degree in fine arts from Delgado Community College in 1986. She was an active member of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish from its inception, where she taught CCD and was a member and officer of the Parish Council, the Alter Society, the Mothers’ Club. She was a member of many women’s clubs, including Cosmopolitan Woman’s Club. She enjoyed arts and crafts of all types and was a talented jewelry maker who taught jewelry making workshops for the Gem and Mineral Society of Louisiana.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel: 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd (in Metairie Cemetery) on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 12 p.m . Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
