

Fallon Wigginton Bentz “Tappy” passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014, in Baton Rouge. He was 84 years old. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne Angell Bentz; his children, Laurie Bentz Murtagh (Dr. Gerard Murtagh), Dee Bentz Moody (William Moody), and Walter Bentz II (Adrienne Orgeron Bentz); and grandchildren, Jeffrey, Kelly, and Bradford Murtagh, Chandler and Katherine Moody, and Trey and Cole Bentz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Wigginton Bentz, and his sister, Cynthia Bentz Dodson. Fallon was born and raised in New Orleans. He was graduated from New Orleans Academy, and Tulane University School of Law, and a member Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He served in the U. S. Army in the Judge Advocate General Corps during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 from the National Labor Relations Board as Regional Attorney. Later he worked as a private arbitrator. Fallon was a past president of Friends of Lafreniere Park. He served on the board of directors of Ecole Classique, and was a past president of the Parents Club. He was a longtime member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Metairie where he served as a lay reader. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 2216 Metairie Rd. in Metairie, on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30AM. Interment will follow at a later date.
