FayRene Evans Zibilich passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2025, in the providential care and love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After suffering effects of illnesses for several years, she is now at peace in His arms.
Fay, a Metairie resident, was born in New Orleans on March 6, 1946, to Beverly Schoen and Marvin Evans. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Vandrell and her stepfather, Frank Vandrell, whom she called “Dad.” Fay is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ronald (Ron) Zibilich, daughter, Connie Zibilich Melancon, two grandchildren, Peyton and Jackson Melancon, who she loved and cherished, niece, Kyleigh Laurent, and cousin, Elizabeth Dauterive.
She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She attended St. Catherine Elementary and middle school, Ridgewood Preparatory High School and Soule Business College. She worked for Mobil Oil Co. then Crawford Adjusting Co. until the birth of their daughter.
Fay enjoyed listening to music, drawing, painting and especially traveling. When healthy, whether it was a weeklong air or auto trip, cruise, or long weekend, she was always ready for the journey. Though never fond of overnight trips (too much preparation for one night), however when the opportunity came, she seldom stayed home. While visiting different cities and sites, she always looked to collect souvenir spoons, many of which she has arranged in a shadow box display.
Her beautiful smile along with her friendly, caring personality led to a warm greeting and pleasant conversation with anyone and everyone. Not just talking with relatives and friends, but to the dismay of waiting family members, she occasionally would have complimentary chats with strangers in stores or on the sidewalk. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to thank the dedicated management and caregivers of Metairie Heights Home for the attention, care, and comfort provided to Fay during her final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass in Metairie Cemetery.
