Ferdinand Boell, Jr. went to Heaven on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the age of 80. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Ferdinand served his community as an NOPD officer and through the St. Tammany Parish Assessors Office. He was a member of several organizations, including the Police Mutual Benevolent Association, the Peace Officers Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police. In his younger years, Ferdinand was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, as well as a stellar bowler. He was the center of every dance floor. He also enjoyed making people laugh.
Ferdinand is preceded in death by his parents, Freida and Ferdinand Boell, Sr., and his sister, Elsie Boell. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Simone E. Boell; daughter, Sheri Wootan and her husband Daniel; son, Keith Boell; grandchildren, Steven, Jessica, and Sean Boell, Anthony and Mary Wootan; and a great-granddaughter to be, Anastasia Boell, who will arrive in November. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, October 22, 2018 beginning at 11:00 am at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
