Florence Marie Coe Callahan (affectionately known as Granny and Florrie) passed away at her Mandeville home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on June 27, 1934, in New Orleans, and graduated from John McDonogh High School. After raising her 5 children, she began working for Central Parking where she retired as a manager. In her free time, she loved to follow her favorite sports teams, New Orleans Saints and Notre Dame.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Douglas Dean Callahan; parents, Edward and Augusta Johnson Coe; son, Steven Callahan; sister, Edwardine Coe Cresap; brother, Louis Coe; and grandson, Sean Callahan.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Robin Zemke; sons, Brian Callahan (Michelle), Darin Callahan (Tatum), and Kevin Callahan (Kristin); sisters, Elizabeth Anthony and Elaine Cucinello (Gary); brothers, Charlie Coe and Eddie Coe (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Corey Callahan, Kelly Callahan, Casey Callahan, Ashley Muller, Sal Bavido, Amy Averill, Candice Baker, Michael Zemke, Christopher Zemke, Taylor Callahan, Darin Callahan, Dalton Lions, Hannah Callahan, Kaitlin Callahan, and Kameron Callahan; and great grandchildren, Scarlett Martinez, Nathan Muller, Jack Bavido, Archie Bavido, Amelia Averill, Harper Shirley, Mason Baker, Amelie Zemke, Theodore Zemke, Brady Zemke, and Parker Zemke.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, January 12, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with a Mass following at 12 PM. Florence will be laid to rest beside her husband and son in Lake Lawn Park immediately after the Mass has concluded.
