Frances was born in Dickson, TN on July 22, 1929 to Benjamin and Mary Joe Wehrenberg. At age 6 years, her Dad, a Sales Representative for Gulf Oil Corp., was transferred to New Orleans where they resided before being transferred again to Birmingham, AL. While in New Orleans, Frances attended Lasalle Grammar School and then Sophie B. Wright School for two years before the relocation. She also was an active member of The St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church volunteering for many duties and other activities as they arose.
In Birmingham, she attended and graduated from Ramsey High School. Then it was on to The University of Alabama for two years. Then Gulf Oil promoted her father to Regional Sales Director in New Orleans. She then transferred to Tulane University’s School of Business Administration. Upon completing two years of work, she received a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration from the School. She then began working for Texaco Oil Co. in their new building on Canal Street. It was during that time that she met H.J. Hinrichs through a friend at The St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church.
After dating and courtship for several months, they decided to marry and set a date for that of July 17, 1952. Until her death on October 20, 2018, they were happily married for 66 years. Their children are Linda Christovich, Fred Turner Hinrichs (Liane) and Clark Benjamin Hinrichs (Claudia).
Frances was a devoted Mother, constantly providing and nurturing them for any of the needs. She was a sweet person, never combative, constantly ready to give aid or support to her family and any others in need. She was active in her Church, having taught Sunday School for 20-25 years and providing help to the many service groups within the Church. She was an active member of the New Orleans Club, La Petit Salon, local PEO Chapter, the Friday Afternoon Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Her Great Uncle, Clarence W. Turner served in the United States Congress as a U.S. Representative from Tennessee from 1933-1937.
She lived a very healthy life until the last few years. She passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 peacefully at The Poydras Home after 3 years of care and nursing by a very attentive staff who responded to her every need.
In addition to her husband, Jack, and her children, Frances is survived by 5 grandchildren, John Michael Christovich (Laura), Michelle Mossy Christovich, Avery Campbell Hinrichs, Turner Wills Hinrichs, John Campbell Hinrichs, and one great grandchild, Scarlett Mossy Christovich.
