Francis John "Jack" Higgins

Francis John..."Jack"... Higgins died Tuesday, January 24 at the age of 94. The beloved husband of Juliet Charlton Higgins for 73 years, he was the second son of Frank P. Higgins and Elsie Evans Higgins, born in Omaha, Nebraska. He was loving father to Mary H. Glas (John), Anne H. Crow, Katherine H. Fontana (Wayne) and John Charlton Higgins (Leslie). Beloved grandfather to Jerry Glas (Claire) , Charlotte A. Glas, Nanette G. Dennis (Shawn), Kevin Crow, Erin Crow, Lindsey Crow, Chris Fontana, Allison F. Segura (John) , Jennifer F. Lewis (Ray), Carol Anne Fontana , Ryan Charlton Higgins ( Jeanne) , Megan H. D' Aquilla (Nick). Paw Paw is also survived by his soon to be eleven great grandchildren ... Katie, Molly, Tyler, Sam, Kata, Margot, Abigail, Henry, James, Anna and Baby Lewis. He will be lovingly missed by each one. An alumnus of Fortier High School and Tulane School of Engineering , Jack worked at Higgins Industries in his early years...eventually partnering with his older brother Edward B. Higgins in Higgins Marine Sales on City Park Avenue. His many years of fishing Louisiana waters brought him great enjoyment, as well as happy hours with family around the table enjoying the catch. His incredible wit, sharp humor, and strength of will are memories to treasure. The family is grateful to the many caregivers who assisted during this difficult time...Heart of Hospice, God's Angels and the kind Firemen of Station #14. A Mass of Christian Burial was said preceding a private graveside service. Masses appreciated as well as contributions made in his name to St. Michael Special School.
