Franklin “Frank” Abud, a native of La Ceiba, Honduras, and longtime resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on September 23, 2025, at the age of 51 due to unexpected health complications at home. With heavy hearts, we share the loss of our beloved, son, brother, cousin, and friend, who left us far too soon.
Frank moved to New Orleans as a young child, where he grew up, graduated high school, and later became a licensed massage therapist. Over the years, he built a career in retail and customer service, where his warmth, humor, and charisma left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Frank was charismatic, open, and endlessly friendly, always chatting, laughing, lighting up every room he walked into. He was the life of the party, quick with a joke, and had a way of touching the lives of everyone he met whether he had known you for decades or just a short while.
He is survived by his beloved pets: his dog Daq, his scarlet macaw Poindexter, and his two cats, as well as his parents Salvador and Inna, his brother Leon and sister Emma, his cousin Ingrid who was like a sister to him and her husband Scott, his aunt Brenda and cousin Rolando, and his best friend Pat. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and the many friends and community members who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nur and Bertha Abud, his aunt, Emma Abud, and his cousin, Raquel Abud.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2025. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel. He will be interred at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
