Frank F. Fugetta, Jr. passed away at his home on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 97. He was born on March 6, 1928, in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for the past 59 years. He was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and was a member of the former Colonial Golf and Country Club.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Ameron “Nona” Ledoux Fugetta, his parents, Mary Abadie Fugetta and Frank F. Fugetta, Sr., and sister, Mary Fugetta Lesage.
Beloved father of Cindy Fugetta Nolan (Dan), Terrell F. Fugetta (Cecelia) and Frank P. Fugetta (Margaret). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Darah Fugetta Eschete (Dennis), Erin Fugetta Adams (Todd), Allison Fugetta, Megan Nolan Delbert (Stephen), Whitney Nolan Peters (Brad), Molly Nolan Joubert (Stephen), Andrew P. Fugetta (Lindsay), and Bradley J. Fugetta (Hannah) and 8 great-grandchildren, Isabella Adams, Todd Adams, Max Adams, Gabriel Eschete, Noelle Eschete, Daniel Joubert, Olivia Joubert, and James Joubert.
Always a hard worker, Frank began working at 14 years old serving ice cream at the original Cloverland Dairy. He later moved on to servicing a milk route for several years. After attending refrigeration school, he continued at Sealtest Dairy and maintained all their refrigeration and freezer equipment. He eventually continued in the same capacity at Schwegmann Bros. Super Markets for many years servicing all 10 stores. In 1974, he decided to strike out on his own and founded his successful business, Metairie Air Conditioning, where he worked until he retired to help care for his beloved “Nona”. In later years he found great joy in his constant companion, Foxy Lady, and hosting “porch visits” with his loving and caring neighbors; an old fashioned or great glass of wine was always in play.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kiran Zaveri and his staff and the hospice provider, Care Associates, for all their help and guidance. In addition, appreciation and gratitude are extended to Marisa Carter, Nichelle Carter, Darrionna Carter, and Ditria Harton for their caring support over the past several weeks.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 11 AM – 1 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
