

Gayle Catherine Minx Weaver Burchfield, 85 years old, died on June 26, 2024 in Metairie while on hospice care for terminal cancer. Born in New Orleans, graduate of Alcée Fortier High School, and retired from 35 years in state government as Regional Coordinator of the Louisiana Office of Tourism in the French Quarter.
Beloved mother of Courtney Weaver, Jr. and Robyn Anne Burchfield. Loving grandmother of Christopher Monnerjahn. Gayle was a devoted native New Orleanian and a transplant to Baton Rouge because of Hurricane Katrina. Gayle is predeceased by her parents, Arthur M. Minx of New Orleans and Zilda Landry Minx of Dutchtown, LA.
She is survived by beloved cousins in Metairie (Clark), Baton Rouge (Leblanc, Cary, Mire, and Fourrier), Lafayette (Fortenberry, Berthelot), Bull Shoals, Arkansas (Decker, Elmhorst), and Los Angeles, CA (Decker).
Gayle’s family wishes to give special thanks and commendations for her end of life care to: Guardian Angel Hospice whose nurse, Maria Ruiz, RN, is compassion in action; Thanks to Passionate Care Caregivers, Mary Mason and team; and Thanks to the vocation of New Orleans Sister Servants of Mary. Services to lay our beloved mother Gayle to her eternal rest after a life well-lived were conducted on July 5, 2024 by Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA with burial in Hope Haven Cemetery while under the exceptional Lake Lawn funeral director Guy Poché’s care.
