Genevieve D. Smith

Genevieve D. Smith, a resident of Bogalusa, LA passed away at the age of 90, on March 11, 2026. She was born in Arnaudville, LA on August 22, 1935. Mrs. Smith was a school cafeteria worker for 25 years and was an active member in the Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, family gatherings and especially spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Beloved wife of 50 years to the late John Robert Smith. Daughter of the late Elza and Maria DeKerlegand. Loving mother of Julianna Kelso (Donald), Anita Westbrook (Neal), Kenneth Smith (Julie) and the late Brenda Smith and James Smith. Sister of the late Mary Lalonde (Louis), Annabelle Madore (Robert), Joe DeKerlegand (Judy) and Dewey Dekerlegand (Dora). Adoring grandmother of Michele Robinson (Tyrone), Angela Kelso (Dave), James Kelso (Heather), Christopher Harman (Heather), Robert Harman (Kaitlyn), Garrett Smith and Logan Smith (Sammy). Great-Grandmother of Jacob, Ethan, Gabrielle, Chloe, TJ, Natasha, Athena, JJ, Shawn, Alyssa, Shaylee, Graceland, Liam, Bellamy, Matteo and Noah. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
