George William Groetsch

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Merilyn Rose Groetsch; parents, Buddy and Lillian Groetsch; and brothers, Buddy Groetsch, Jr., Kenny Groetsch, and Raymond Groetsch.

George is survived by his two loving daughters, Allison Groetsch and Elizabeth “Lee” Groetsch Smith; a sister, Pam Groetsch Frey; a brother, Chuck Groetsch; and grandchildren, Brennyn Smith, Luke Smith, Scarlette Groetsch, Noah Smith, and Faith Schacherl.

George was born in New Orleans on July 17, 1946. He was part owner of Groetsch Wholesale Grocery. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church, and loved going to church and reading the Bible. He also enjoyed watching LSU and Saints football games. He loved his family with all his heart. He lived his life to the fullest, and spreading love all around. George chose happiness in every situation.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. The interment will be private.
