

Gladys Mitchell Godchaux, a retired Orleans Parish Public School administrator, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Canon Hospice. She was 75. Mrs. Godchaux was born in Plaquemine and lived in New Orleans for most of her life. She was a graduate of McDonogh No. 35 Senior High School, Dillard University, and Southern University in Baton Rouge. She was a parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, and a member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, Professional Administrators of New Orleans Public Schools, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals. Mrs. Godchaux was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Godchaux Jr; her parents, Richard Mitchell and Virginia Joyce Mitchell; a brother, Iarrace Fred; and her sisters, Virginia Mitchell Gaither and Irma Fred Thomas. She is survived by her nieces, Channing “Chanelle” Nicole Gaither and Shayla Gaither Wilbert (Michael), and numerous other relatives and friends.
Relatives, friends, and employees of Orleans Parish Public Schools and the Recovery School District are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 3101 Eton Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70131 on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery.
