Gladys (Girlie) N. Lamia passed away Monday, November 21, 2016. She was born February 24, 1922 to Maud Leovy Newsham and Joseph P. Newsham in New Orleans where she spent her childhood. Gladys lived in Metairie most of her life, until she recently moved to Brookdale Living Center in Mandeville. She worked and retired from Exxon Oil Company in the early ‘70’s. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry K. Lamia, her sister Mimi Newsham, her brothers Edward L. Newsham, John C. Newsham, and Joseph P. Newsham. She is survived by her loving son, Thomas J. Fenasci, daughter-in-law Mona, grandsons Edward L. Fenasci (Rachael), Robert W. Fenasci, granddaughter Lisa Fenasci LaFrance (Jason) and great-granddaughters Averi Lennon Fenasci and Jillian Reese LaFrance. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchatrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Services will follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m.
