Glenn Joseph Reames, age 77, died on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at his French Quarter residence following complications from surgery. The New Orleans native and lifelong resident was the son of the late Joseph Cullen Reames and Lois Livaudais Reames and survived by his sister, Cynthia Reames of Rohnert Park, CA and his devoted friends Mary Devereux and Brooks Trotter, and his neighbors Kenneth LaCoste and John Harris. Reames earned a BS and Master’s degrees from the University of New Orleans where he was Summa Cum Laude in 1971. Later he received a Master’s degree in Tax Law from NYU after graduating from Tulane Law School Class of 1987. He was admitted to the bar that same year. Reames was a self-employed attorney who specialized in estate and tax law and for many years was a board certified tax practitioner.
In addition to his professional career, Reames was an active member of the Steamboat Club of New Orleans, having been a past president and longtime board member. He was honored by the club last December as being one of the longest continuous members since 1989. He currently served on the board of the Fat Monday Luncheon organization, the New Orleans Advocates for LGBTQ+ Elders and many others whom he gave legal counsel. He was active in the Northshore Network Group, Primer Timers and P-Flag New Orleans.
Friends and colleagues are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 12:00 Noon, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM with the Rev.
