Gloria Mayeaux Benandi

Loving mother of Marlene Benandi of Metairie. Daughter of the late Dennis Mayeux and Eugenie Deglendon Mayeux.

Sister of the late Edley Mayeux (wife Anne), Lena M. Ponthier (husband Morris), Charles Mayeux, Mathilda M. Bordelon (husband Elie), Berkley Mayeux (wife Thelma), Leonard Mayeux (wife Hazel), Elmo Mayeaux (wife Rita), Amos Mayeaux (wife Dorris) and William Mayeaux (wife Joyce).

Mrs. Benandi was born in Hessmer, Avoyelles Parish and moved to New Orleans during WWII where she was employed as PBX operator at Charity Hospital. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Violet where she was a resident of Braithwaite (Plaquemines Parish) for 50 years where she was the Principal’s Secretary at Woodlawn and Promised Land Academy Schools and was part-time Post Mistress of the Braithwaite Post Office.

She was a Parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Metairie for the past 15 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Mass following at noon at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, La. Interment at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred.
