Gloria Roussel Dodson

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Alton Dodson, and her parents, Fink and Florence Roussel.

Gloria is survived by her three loving children, Alton J. Dodson (Linda), Darleen Durel (William), and David J. Dodson (Enid); her five grandchildren, Deborah Wilkes, Denise Mortensen (Mike), Mitzi Clark (Casey), Chris Durel (Sarah), and Emma Dodson; and her eight great-grandchildren, Brooke Mortensen, Alexis Mortensen, Dylan Mortensen, Zachary Wilkes, Matthew Durel, Zachary Durel, Charlie Clark, and Amelia Clark.

Gloria was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 1, 1928. Her hobbies included genealogy research and collecting Mardi Gras doubloons. She was also an avid bowler. Gloria was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Slidell and was a member of the People’s Program.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 12:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow the chapel service at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
