Gloria Mae Duplantis

Gloria Mae (Ganny, G-G) Hefner Duplantis entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 8, 2015. She was 84 years old. Beloved wife of the late James Merrill Duplantis, Sr., daughter of the late Vincent and Leona Hefner, sister of the late Irving Hefner Sr., the late Helen Galy and Adeline Prudhomme. Mother of Garry A. Duplantis, James Merrill Duplantis Jr. and Mark Ludwick Duplantis (Lisa). Grandmother of Emily Duplantis, Jason Duplantis, Derek Duplantis, Leah Duplantis, Robert Franklin and Jessica Franklin. Also survived by many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

She lived most of her life in New Orleans and Metairie. She never met a stranger and was beloved by all she befriended. She was a true New Orlean original and one of the few left of a dying breed – a yat before the term was coined.
