Goldie “Ammaw” Vrbaskovich McClellan went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Good Friday, March 30, 2018. Goldie was born on February 7, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri, but was a life-long resident of Metairie. She is the loving mother of three daughters Stephanie McClellan, Sheeri Slater and Robbi Quigley, and is mother-in-law to Justin Quigley, II. The great loves of her life were her grandchildren, Zachary Quigley, Alexa Quigley, Shyla Slater and Sable Slater; and one great grandchild, Ava Quigley. She is survived by two brothers, Robert and George Vrbaskovich, brothers-in-law Donald McClellan and Bill Shrader, three sisters-in-law Mary Sprain, Ann Winslow and Linda Shrader, as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Robert Leon McClellan, and her sisters, Sylvia Trepagnier and Natalie Smith. “Ammaw” as her grandchildren named her, was an avid reader of autobiographies and loved all things science fiction. Her true calling in life was her deep devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. Thank you to Mrs. Rosemary Cobb and Mrs. Martha Hawkins, CNA, for taking such good care of our mother these last few months. A very special thanks to our Angel on earth, Jennifer Regan, RN, of Hospice Specialists of Louisiana, as she provided comfort, care, support and love to not only Goldie, but to her entire family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation Saturday, April 7, 2018 from Noon to 2:00pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. A Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel. To view and sign the guest book, visit www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
