Gotardo Gregorio Ortiz passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Pamela McCullen Ortiz. Father of Maximilian Gregory Ortiz. Father-in-law of Vanessa Howell Ortiz. Predeceased by his parents Edelma Pardo and Gregorio Ortiz and sister Mari Teri de Lamerens. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Goty arrived from Cuba at the age of 19 and, in 1989, opened his own chain of retail stores, Gator’s Discount. Goty is remembered by his family and friends as a self-made man with a strong work ethic and an iron will. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
