Guy Alcide Naquin passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024 at the age of 105. Guy was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana on April 24, 1918 to the late Euphemie and Eugene Naquin, and was a lifelong resident of Metairie. Guy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy and his daughter, Claudia Richard. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Marse (the late Byron); son-in-law, Ray Richard; five grandchildren, Rhonda Richard Higgason (Dwayne), Brian Thomas (Pamela), Renee Richard Blair (Steve), Amy Thomas Carrick (Edward), Rachel Richard Schranz (Layne). Ten great grandchildren Katelyn Blair meadows (Luke) Grey Higgason, Kara Blair Byers (Will), Hayley Higgason Allred (Jonathan), Kyle Blair, Ashlyn Schranz Smith (Chapman), Devyn Schranz Mueller (Luke), Lindsey Carrick, Landon Carrick and Lucas Carrick; and seven great great grandchildren, Liam, Mason, Riley Meadows, William, John and Henry Byers, Jackson and Collins Allred.
Guy served his country in the US Army during World War II in Europe. He retired from Winn Dixie after 40 years. He and his wife traveled all over the United States and to more than 30 foreign nations. He was a volunteer at East Jefferson hospital for 20 years and through the Metairie Senior Center, delivered meals to seniors for many years. He most enjoyed playing cards, especially Canasta at the Metairie Senior Center. He loved his family dearly, never forgetting a grandchild's or great grandchild's birthday. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Fidelis Care and Hospice Associates for all their support and care during this last year.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2 PM. Visitation will begin at 1 PM. After the Mass, Guy will be laid to rest in Lake Lawn Park.
