

A native New Orleanian, Gwendolyn was A 25-year resident of Richmond and Stafford, Texas with her husband of 30 years. Gwendolyn invested years, dedication and service as office administrator with Aker Kvaerner Norwegian Oil and Gas Company, The American Heart Association, Houston Texas, and JC Penny at First Colony Mall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lucien Duplessis and Dardanella Goins Duplessis; her son, Montrell Leon Hymes; her grandsons, Montrell Leon Napoleon and Allen Thomas Floyd; her sisters; Carrilla Duplessis, Patricia Duplessis Irving, and Victoria Duplessis Posey; and her godchildren, Anita Irvin-LeViege, and Larrice Irving Anderson.
Gwen is survived by her husband, Charles A. Greene; siblings, Lucien J. Duplessis, Sonja N. Morgan, Keith J. Duplessis, and Chris M. Duplessis; children, Terece Marie Hymes Rowe and Michelle Lynn Hymes Murray; son in law, Randy B. Rowe; daughter in law, Christine Francis Hymes; grandchildren, Tiffany C. Floyd, Tyauna R. Floyd, Myra A. Murray, Evan A. Murray, Mia L. Murray, Jessica M. Napoleon, Jevin Napoleon, Jasmin M. Napoleon, Sydney A. Bridges and Jayden C. Bridges; great grandchildren, Isabella C. Floyd, Tavione D. Floyd, Arielle T. Floyd, Tahvon C. Roach, Janelle E. Narcisse,
Jordan Paul, Jayion Paul and Journey Paul; godchildren, Brandon R. Duplessis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, Cousins, in-laws, family and friends.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors & staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Sugar Land, Texas, St. Luke Health Hospital, Sugar Land, Texas, Methodist Hospital Sugar Land, Texas, Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital of Texas, Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans, Louisiana, The Uptown Downtown Ladies S&P Houston, Texas, and The Fort Bend Church, Sugar Land, Texas.
Relatives, friends, pastors, officers and members of The Fort Bend Church in Sugarland, Texas, George Washington Carver Senior High School Alumni Class of 1964 in New Orleans, Southern University at New Orleans Alumni Class of 1992, and The Uptown Downtown Ladies of Houston, are invited to attend a funeral service, officiated by Rev. Charles Varnado, in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Gwen’s immediate family will lay her to rest privately at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Metairie following the chapel service.
