

Helen Edith “Bobbie” Cooper Arnold, wife of the late Edward H. Arnold, Jr., daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. George William Cooper, passed away on June 18, 2016. She is survived by her children, Helen E. “Missy” Arnold, Edward H. “Hank” Arnold, III (Gina), Robert Malcolm Arnold, Gregory D. Arnold; and her brother, George William "Bill" Cooper, Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ashley, Chip, and Cooper Arnold. Bobbie graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School, attended Louisiana State University, Newcomb College, and graduated from St. Mary's Dominican College. While at LSU, she was a member of Phi Mu and remained active in the sorority throughout her life. Bobbie was born in Pensacola, Florida on April 23, 1933 where her father, Dr. Cooper, was stationed as a Naval physician. As a child, Bobbie lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, which cultivated her love of travel. After graduating from St. Mary’s Dominican College in Fine Arts, Bobbie was an art teacher at several local New Orleans schools. She was an avid fan of all sports. She was a member of the Southern Yacht Club. In more recent years, Bobbie played on several Silver Slammers softball and basketball teams that competed at the local and national levels. Her Silver Slammers basketball team advanced to the finals of several Senior Olympics, earning Gold Medals as National Champions multiple years. The family offers special thanks to the staff of Sunrise Senior Living of Metairie and Heart of Hospice for the compassionate care received. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation and a memorial on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA, 70124.
