Helen Marie Germade
January 20, 1926 – June 12, 2018
Our beloved Helen Marie Germade passed into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the age of 92. Helen was born in Shreveport, La. in 1926 and loved growing up in rural Cottonport, La., before moving to New Orleans in 1945. She was a beautiful, outgoing woman who was blessed with many friends and was fortunate to have lived a long, happy life. Helen was a homemaker and a talented ceramic artist. She loved to laugh, host holiday parties, and tend her to garden. Helen loved nature, especially birds, flowers, and sunsets. She was very proud of her large family and loved them all dearly.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Anthony Germade, Sr., her parents, Leon and Rose Moreau, her daughter Barbara, her sister Sadie Lacour, and her brother Leon Moreau, Jr.
Helen is survived by her sister Jeanette (Louis) Hagan of Sacramento, Ca., her daughters Christine Ryan of Crystal Lake, Ill., Patricia Germade of New Orleans, La., and her son Anthony Germade, Jr. of Baton Rouge, La. Helen is survived by 9 grandchildren, Kendelle (Tom) Barton, Holly (Mark) Wilkinson, Ken (Mary) Ryan, Heather Ryan, Michael (Deb) Ryan of Crystal Lake, Ill., Kelly Ryan of Seattle, Wash., Larry (Tina) Grice, Lisa Grice, and Sonny (Tammy) Grice, of New Orleans, La. She is also survived by 16 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. There will be a Catholic Mass starting at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
