Helen Lockhart LaGarde

Helen Lockhart LaGarde passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5th, 2025 in Alpharetta, Georgia, at the age of 99. Her daughter Holly LaGarde Schott and son-in-law Patrick Schott, Jr. were by her side. She was born in Metairie, Louisiana on March 8th, 1925 and was the 5th of 14 children. After graduating from business school at the age of 16, she began working at the Federal Reserve Bank of New Orleans. She was employed there until her retirement in March of 1986. She was a devoted Catholic and long time parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Church in Metairie. She was an exceptional wife and mother and loved to spend time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Edward Clarence LaGarde; parents Joseph Michael and Mary Aufdemorte Lockhart; and 10 of her siblings.

She is survived by her daughter Holly LaGarde Schott and son-in-law Patrick Michael Schott, Jr., brothers Orlan, Jules and Gaynel Lockhart and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. After Mass, Helen will be laid to rest beside her husband in All Saints Mausoleum.
