

years of age. She was born April 12, 1935, to the late Helen and Ralph Turnmyre of Nashville,
TN. She is sister to the late Ronald Turnmyre, the late Richard Turnmyre, and Linda Fuqua
(Don). She was preceded in death by Kim Sorrells (Merry), and her granddaughter, Jenn
Sorrells.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Curtis Sorrells; their sons Curtis Sorrells and
Daniel Sorrells (Drew); their daughters Julie Ahearn (Luke) daughter-in-law Merry Sorrells (Kim); their grandchildren, Gabriela Sorrells,
Carlie Brown (Edward), Jeanie L'Hoste (Rodney), Nikki Riess (Carson), Curtis Sorrells (Ashley),
Kay Sorrells (Ryan), Brian Sorrells, Ellen Ahearn (James), Cooper Ahearn; seven greatgrandchildren,
and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Helen's greatest love was God, her husband, and her family. She was a devoted wife and
mother. She was a pillar of strength to her family, was intensely loyal, exceedingly generous,
possessed a profound commitment to fairness, a deep empathy and insight for others, and
served as a comforting presence for her family and friends.
She was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She had a lifelong love for singing and music,
performing with "The Chickadees" trio in her youth. In 1989, she was the Queen for the Krewe
of Iris. She was a world traveler with a keen eye for photography and art. She took great pride
in her cooking because it meant love, hospitality, and family. She was a loyal member of the
First Church of Christ Scientist in New Orleans.
Helen’s legacy of love, joy, and family will live on forever in those who love her.
