Dr. Henry Octave Colomb Jr. left this earth on April 8th, 2021 at the age of 89. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 13th, 1931 to Dr. Henry O. Colomb and Dr. Anna D. Colomb. He lived most of his early life in New Orleans, receiving his undergraduate education at Tulane University. He went on to receive a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Texas.
Henry worked as a chemist in Charleston, West Virginia and Cary, North Carolina for Union Carbide and later as a technical consultant for IBM and Lenovo.
He was a lifelong Presbyterian and an active member of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church in New Orleans, First Presbyterian Church in Charleston, and Kirk of Kildaire Church in Cary.
Henry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating. He developed a lifetime interest in computer technology.
Henry and his wife Nayda enjoyed many trips together that Henry documented through photographs.
He became a skilled woodturner and woodworker with many lovely items to show for his talent.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dr. Herman D. Colomb.
He is survived by his spouse of nearly 30 years, Nayda Swonger Colomb; his three sons Christopher H., Craig V., and Henry O. III and their mother Doris W. Colomb; stepdaughter Wendy Zagray Warren, stepson James Arthur Zagray (Cynthia Zagray); granddaughter Kayla I. Zagray.
Henry will be interred at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana in the family mausoleum. Family and friends are welcome to gather for the graveside service on April 13th at 10:00 am.
