Herbert Joseph McCullum, Sr. entered eternal rest on November 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents George & Lola McCullum and sister, Doris McCullum Mitchell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Alva, son Herbert, Jr. (Lelia), two grandchildren: Herbert, III (LeKisha), Toni (Kenyon, Sr.), six great-grandchildren, Kyle, Paige McCullum; Keoni, Kenyon, Jr., Taylor, Kelan Isaacs; brother, George McCullum (Rayceille); uncle, Ernest L. McCullum and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Herbert Sr. graduated from Xavier Prep in 1949 and Xavier Univ. in 1953. He was employed by NOPS for 40+ years retiring in 1994. Herbert Sr. was an active member in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. After Hurricane Katrina, he moved to Houston and became a member of St. Monica Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic minister and working with the St. Vincent DePaul Society's food pantry and community outreach ministry. Herbert Sr. was a member of the Silver Steppers Seniors, Alpha Phi Alpha and the Original Illinois Club. Funeral mass is Friday, Nov 11th at 11AM - Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, Metairie, LA.
