Hermeen Brown Brumfield

Hermeen Brown Brumfield passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015, age 63 years. Beloved wife of Isaac William Brumfield. Mother of Jason William Brumfield. Sister of Linda Kenny, Edie Gill, and Donna Guzman. Daughter of the late Herman A. Brown and Lucreasa Butler Brown. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Brumfield was born in New Orleans on April 28, 1951. She graduated from McDonogh 35 Senior High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at Dillard University. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in English at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Mrs. Brumfield was a dedicated teacher in the New Orleans Public School system for thirty-two years. She was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where she served as coordinator of lectors and Eucharistic ministers. She had a passion for the arts and enjoyed writing poetry, visiting local art galleries, and attending events at NOMA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 411 N. Rampart St., New Orleans, on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Providence Memorial Park.
