Hien Van Cao passed in his rest on February 1, 2018 roughly two weeks from his 98th birthday. He has eleven children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Among the things he left behind are the clothes he had worn for decades, well-kept because he was a tailor. There was a bath towel he had brought with him when he came to America in 1993, which he used regularly. Before coming to America, he left Vietnam. Before that, he left Henan, China, where he was born and raised. He left without saying goodbye. Surely, because he doesn’t intend to be away for long. While he is away, his family will continue to love him, miss him, and cherish every single memory he left with them. Much can be written about a successful and powerful person, yet so few words are available to measure a beloved human being. No amount of joy can replace the light of his life and no grief can surpass the darkness of his absence. Time is all that keeps him from us.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a service on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans.
