

Imelda Salanio Montelibano, aged 85, passed away on January 8, 2026. She was born on June 30, 1940, in San Miguel, Iloilo, Philippines. Imelda was a respected pediatrician who dedicated her career to serving the community of New Orleans. She worked at the United States Public Service Hospital and the New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, where she made significant contributions to the health and well-being of countless children.
Imelda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years Eduardo Banzon Montelibano; her parents, Salvador Salanio and Maria Bonitillo Salanio; her son, Dennis Emilio Montelibano; her sisters, Julianita and Desamparados; as well as her brothers, Ponciano and Salvador. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Montelibano (Liv Newman); her sisters, Ruth and Alma; her brothers, Nestor and Edgardo; and her cherished grandchildren, Mia, Margo, and Matthew.
A devoted parishioner of St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Fort Meyers, FL, Imelda was known for her deep faith and community involvement.
Imelda Salanio Montelibano will be remembered for her compassionate spirit, dedication to her profession, and the love she shared with her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:30am until Mass begins at 12:00pm. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
