

Irene Campo D’Antonio passed away on June 6, 2016 at the age of 80. Beloved wife of the late Anthony “A.C.” D’Antonio for 43 years. Daughter of Joseph and Angelina Campo, sister of the late John and Manuel Campo. Mother of Stephanie Naquin, Angelle Denise Arseneaux, and Dr. Michael D’Antonio. Mother-in-law of Kenneth Naquin, Arthur Arseneaux, and Dr. Christine D’Antonio. Beloved grandmother of Wilson Hughes III (fiancé Arielle Nabatkhorian), Rachel Naquin and Kenneth Naquin, Jr. (Jocelyn), Nicholas, Benjamin, and Rebecca D’Antonio. Great grandmother to Josiah, Audrey, and William Naquin. Mrs. D’Antonio was born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie since 1963. She graduated from St. Rose de Lima Elementary, St. Mary’s Dominican High School, Class of 1953, and the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education, minor in Science. She taught fifth grade at Marie B. Riviere Elementary in Jefferson Parish for 28 years. She was chosen Jefferson Parish Elementary School Teacher of the Year in 1988. She was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Jefferson Parish Bar Association Auxiliary.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 11:00 a.m. She wanted nothing more in life than to make a difference. She rests in peace knowing that she did. She says goodbye to all as she wrote this obituary herself.
