Iris Letellier Ricca

Iris Letellier Ricca passed into the arms of our Lord on July 1st, 2026, at the age of 102. She was born on September 4, 1923, in New Orleans, LA to Eugene and Rosina Letellier. She was married to her loving husband Nicholas Ricca for 49 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Ricca, her grandsons, Christopher Paul Waguespack Sr. and Jason Ricca, and her sisters, Rita and Rosemary.

She is survived by her 5 children, Frances Waguespack (Ronnie), Claire Valentino (Leo), Iris Harris, Nicole Randell (Tom), and Joseph Ricca (Dana). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ronald Waguespack Jr. (Rosary), David Waguespack (Shannon), Mary Crawford (Weldon), Rosanna Bascle (Wayne), Gary Waguespack (Lesley), Michael Waguespack, Beth Stephenson, Andrew Waguespack (Joanna), Greg Ricca, Paige Borne (Brandon), and Grant Randell as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Iris and her husband Nick were prominent retail grocers for 49 years. She loved to read and take care of her family. Our family is heartbroken and trying to process how we will go on without our kind sweet loving mother.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Mrs. Iris.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM with a funeral Mass to begin at 12 PM. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
