Irma Dabdoub Carcamo, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the age of 84. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, Philip Dabdoub and Wadia Sikaffi Dabdoub; a sister, Melba Rose Dabdoub Pavon; brothers, Felipe Dabdoub and Albert Dabdoub; and dear friend and cousin, Mary Kawas Sanford.
Irma is survived by her son, Felix Anthony Carcamo; daughter, Susy Carcamo-Rowe (son-in-law, Daniel Rowe); sisters, Helen Dabdoub Caceres, Norma Dabdoub Cardon, and Margie Dabdoub Dip; brother, Frank Dabdoub; and former husband, Felix G. Carcamo. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Irma was born and raised in La Ceiba, Honduras, and was a graduate of Mazapan High School. Because of her birthright U.S. citizenship, she was able to move to New Orleans in her late teens and make Louisiana her home. Irma loved listening to music, dancing, and singing. Her laughter was beautiful and contagious. She had a strong work ethic and raised two children on her own. She always greeted strangers with smiles and kind words, and she had a soft spot for children; her face would light up with delight around them.
But most important, Irma was a loving and devoted mother. She was an incredible example of unconditional love and perseverance; she overcame a lot of hardships and poured herself into providing for her children and nurturing their physical and emotional well-being. Her selflessness didn't just show up when it was convenient; she was always there for her children.
Irma now rests in God’s loving arms. She will be missed.
