Obituary of Isabel Anglade Reynolds
IN THE CARE OF

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Isabel Anglade Reynolds, age 86, of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico as an only child by loving devoted parents, Isabel was always bright and motivated. She came to Newcomb College New Orleans with her beloved nanny Shiela at the young age of 15. She received a BA in Psychology in 1957. She was always committed to the concept of “being her brother’s keeper” and went to work for Welfare Department trying to assist the less fortunate.

She was very family centric and devoted to the care and education of children. She married, started a family, became interested in the Montessori method of teaching, opening the Montessori School of Metairie. She never did anything half way so in 1977, she received an MA in Early Childhood Education from Tulane and served as past president of Louisiana Montessori Society. She was involved with the Citizens Advisory Group on Early Childhood Education and National Teachers Honor Society.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Isabel divorced in 1981 but continued to commit herself to raising her four children. She transitioned her career to Real Estate Sales. Her accomplishments include work with Bertucci & Associates, Broker Affiliate at Gertrude Gardner Uptown, Director of Sales and Marketing at One River Place , work at HRI as Director of Sales and Marketing, overseeing the conversion of Henderson Apartments, and working for Prudential Gardner in 1996 as Sales Manager of the Maple Street office then Garden District office. Her sales included St. Joseph Condos, Rex Condominiums, St. Elizabeth, and 1205 St. Charles. A Broker Associate for Prudential Gardner in 2001 she was honored as top sales person in the company in 2005. Isabel’s career condominium sales topped $300 million. She moved to ReMax New Orleans properties in 2006.

She met the love of her life, George, whom she married in 1998. They spent time travelling and relaxing in their condo in Pass Christian. She was socially active in the community and served as past president of Crescent Academy Board, past president of Civic Beautification Association of Greater New Orleans, past president of Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Isabel was a member of New Orleans Business and Professional Women’s Club, Louisiana Mental Health Association Board, the Jefferson Linear Park Advisory Board, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Preservation Resource Center.

She had strong convictions about the ability of individuals to make a difference in the world and the importance of involvement in the political arena to lift those less fortunate.

She too was an avid reader and gardener and was devoted to her family and friends and always giving back to those in need. She will be truly missed.

Isabel was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 11 years, George Albert Reynolds, and parents Pedro Esteban Anglade and Isabel Maria Levy. She is survived by daughter Isabel Victoria Touchet (Duane); sons Franklin Peter Toups; David Lawrence Toups, MD (Lauren Davis, MD); and Michael John Toups; grandchildren Casey Lynn Toups, Renee Isabel Toups, Christopher Morgan Toups, MD, Olivia Madeline Toups, Elena Catherine Toups, Gabrielle Ann Toups, Michael John Toups, Jr., and Elizabeth Grace Touchet; and great-grandchild Carter May Toups-Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Isabel’s name to the Unity of Greater New Orleans. A celebration of life is being planned for Mid March.
