

He is survived by his loving wife Claire; children Nicholas John (Charlene), Donna Claire Giroir, Gregory Joseph (Rachel Cruz), Margaret Mary Fox, David Paul (Lori), and Laura Elizabeth; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and brother Reverend Roy Persich, C. M. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Claire Persich; parents Nicholas and Gladys Persich; sister Anna Rita Persich; and brothers Reverend Nicholas Eugene Persich, C.M. and Reverend Harold Bernard Persich, C.M.
Dr. Persich graduated from L.S.U. School of Medicine in 1952 and practiced Family Medicine until his retirement in 2003, at which time he was employed at Canon Hospice until 2015. During World War II, Dr. Persich served in the US Army as an infantryman with the 69th Division earning the Combat Infantry Badge and two Battle Stars. He was awarded the St. Louis Medallion at the request of Pastor Msgr. Joseph Lorio. The Congregation of the Mission Society bestowed upon him the title Affiliate Member. He was also a proud long time member of the Knights of Babylon, as well as the Knights of Columbus.
A visitation for Donald will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 1609 Carrollton Avenue, Metairie, LA 70005 at 10AM, followed by a funeral Mass at 12PM, and interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124.
