Born in Charleston, West Virginia on March 28, 1937, Jack spent his life defined by his boisterous personality, hard work, and faith. He worked many years in nuclear painting and served his country in the Navy.
A devoted member of Celebration Church, he rarely missed a service or the chance to lend a helping hand. Those who knew him best remember his smile, steadfast kindness, and the long walks he took every day, greeting everyone he met.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Janet Houghton, Mary Anne Phillips, and Patricia Phillips; niece, Dianna (David) Strader; nephew, Frank Houghton; great niece, Amanda Strader; great nephews, Brandon (Madison) Strader and Kevin Houghton; great great niece and nephew, Daisy and Isaac Strader; and best friends, Ricky Tozel and Gerry Ponson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shannon Mary; parents, Minter and Olive Houghton; sister, Grace Faye Houghton; brother, Franklin Delano Houghton; and nephew, John Paul (Renna) Houghton.
A celebration of life will be held at Celebration Church, 2001 Airline Dr, Metairie, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, a service will take place at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Lake Lawn Park.
