

James was a native of Edgard, LA. and resided for many years in Hahnville and New Orleans. He was the son of Henriette Webre and James Joseph Caire. He was a graduate of Edgard High School and Tulane University. He served in the U.S. Navy as a S2C in World War II. Most of his working years were spent in the sugarcane and oil industries (Helis Oil Company). James was a former member of the World Trade Center, Round Table Club, and the Society of the Founders of the City of New Orleans.
James was the devoted husband of Katherine Brady Caire for 68 years. He was the loving father of James (Elda) Caire, Mary Katherine Faust (Don), Donald (Kathe) Caire and Robert (Lisa) Caire. “Pops” cherished and spoiled his 10 grandchildren Katie and Donald Faust, Alexander and Jean Rene Caire, Lauren, Carolyn and Katherine Caire, Jason and Jenna Caire and one great-grandchild Jude Caire. He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter Elizabeth Leigh Faust.
James died at his residence in Metairie. He is survived by two brothers, Joseph and Edward Caire, predeceased by Martha Hymel, his sister, and Henry and Roland Caire, his brothers.
Alicia Taylor, Ashley Washington and Andrea Mouton loved and cared for him in his illness. The family expresses gratitude to them for their support.
A funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J. on Saturday, October 8, at 11:00 am. Interment followed in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
