

by his wife of 53 years, Kammer Julian Conway (“Tootie”); his 3 children Kimberley
Crawford (Mark), Elizabeth Schwing (John) and Jason (Lacey); and 7 grandchildren -
Ansley, Jack, Leland, Brent, Olivia, Evan and Hunter. He was born in New Orleans and
graduated from Jesuit High School, class of 1962. He was a graduate of Loyola
University Business School and Loyola Law School, where he served as managing
editor of the Loyola Law Review. Jim was a prominent real estate lawyer in New
Orleans. As a senior partner at Lemle & Kelleher law firm, he was the Louisiana
counsel for many leading corporate and financial companies. As a member of the Bank
Counsel Section of the Louisiana Bankers Association, he was selected to serve on the
Security Device Task Force. He was also appointed to serve on the Tulane Medical
School Committee on the use of human subjects. In 1990, Governor Buddy Roemer
appointed Jim to serve as a member of the newly formed State Police Commission,
which he was then selected as the first Chair of the Commission. Jim was a member of
Metairie Country Club, a member and past president of the Bienville Club, a fellow of
the American College of Mortgage Attorneys and a member of various carnival
organizations. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Catherine
of Siena Church in Metairie on Tuesday, March 16 at 12:30. Visitation will be held from
10:30-12:30. Private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to
