He graduated from New Orleans Academy and earned his bachelor’s degree at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He worked at Guaranty Savings & Homestead Association.
James is survived by his sister, Dorothy Willingham Cheatham, nephew, Joseph Harris, and many close friends.
There will be a memorial gathering on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. followed by interment in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
